Relatively new amateur radio operator located in Missoula, Montana, United States. First licensed in November 2008, General in October 2011, and Extra in November 2011. Member, ARRL. Big shout out to all of you who provide those amazing and extremely helpful amateur radio video's on Youtube, you have no idea how much I appreciate you taking the time to make those videos. A few that come to mind are Randy K7AGE, and David KF7ETX. Also really enjoying Ham Nation with Leo, Gordon, Bob and everyone else at Twit. I also have to thank my buddy Randy K5RHD for kicking my butt and not letting up until I finally got my ham station set up. I'll write more in time, but for now, 73.

Current Radio Set-Up
I'm using an Icom IC-756PRO that I bought from a fellow QRZ member. Beautiful rig, and very well taken care of, and I plan to get many years of service out of it. Currently, I'm just starting to get my HF antenna set up, so I haven't made too many HF contacts yet. I also have a2M/440Mhz Kenwood TM-V71Aconnected to a Diamond X-30a antenna mounted on the roof of the house via some Times LMR-400UF coax. Everything is runningoff an Astron RM-35 rack mount power supply and a RigRunner.
Other Hobbies and Interests
Photography, science, technology, graphic design, astronomy, music, Fender Stratocaster guitars, Vox amplifiers, home theater, Netflix, and Apple Computers. Been around aviation for years and currently have about 100 hours as pilot in command of various single engine aircraft. Also enjoy X-Plane flight simulator when I want to do some desk-top flying. Enjoy watching various sports, including NFL football, summer and winter Olympics, pro cycling (Tour de France, Tour of California, Giro d'Italia), Indy Car racing, World Series, etc. Enjoy a wide range of music from classic rock to indie. I spend an excessive amount of time working around my house and yard, especially landscaping.

FM
For Field Day operating, FM is probably the easiest VHF mode to implement. You’ll have little trouble finding FM rigs to use; even a
hand-held transceiver can make a fine Field Day rig. FM doesn’t have the range of CW or SSB, but it is the most popular
communications mode on the VHF and UHF bands. You’ll find the greatest amount of FM simplex activity on the 2-meter band,
although 6 meter FM may be worth a try as well. Remember that Field Day rules prohibit the use of repeaters. This means you’ll
have to hunt for contacts on the recognized simplex frequencies.
