How to QSL

Electronic:

LoTW or eQSL.cc is fine. If you haven't signed up for either service, I would encourage you to. While paper QSLs are still "the final courtesy" of a contact, the reality is that electronic QSLing is fast and saves on postage. I do encourage everyone to at least upload to LoTW because it is the only electronic QSLing accepted for DXCC and WAS. eQSL works for CQ magazine and DARC (German) awards. However, if you want a paper QSL, that's not a problem.

Direct:

USA - SASE with sufficient first class postage (45c as of 2012)

Canada and Mexico - SASE with sufficient postage (85c USA stamps only) or SAE and $1USD or 1 IRC (properly stamped, unexpired).

All other DX outside NA - SAE with $2USD or 1 IRC (properly stamped, unexpired).

I am sorry but US postage increased this year, so 1 USD is no longer sufficient to cover the cost of mailing outside of the NAFTA bloc. IRCs are 100% OK.

Bureau:

Bureau cards are replied to but are very slow. Typically 1 year turnaround time is average. If you wish, you can use Clublog's online QSL request feature.

Before you send a QSL, I encourage you to check the log search above, courtesy of Clublog. If you haven't signed up for Clublog, it is an excellent service that allows you to track your DXCC and some other awards.

About me

My name is Ryan and I live with my wife Annita (KC2OYY) and three kids (triplets) in the quiet rural town of Wantage in Sussex County, New Jersey. I am originally from Trinidad and Tobago where I first obtained my amateur radio license. I have been a ham since 1997. I have been a SWL since I was about 4 or 5 years old, as my dad taught me the magic of the radio. My English teacher, Mr. Tony Lee-Mack 9Y4AL is the one that introduced me to the hobby.

I am primarily a contester, DXer and homebrewer in that order. But I do sometimes engage in a casual QSO on air, with close friends or making new ones.

You’ll have little trouble finding FM rigs to use; even a hand-held transceiver can make a fine Field Day rig. FM doesn’t have the range of CW or SSB, but it is the most popular communications mode on the VHF and UHF bands. You’ll find the greatest amount of FM simplex activity on the 2-meter band, although 6 meter FM may be worth a try as well. Remember that Field Day rules prohibit the use of repeaters. This means you’ll have to hunt for contacts on the recognized simplex frequencies. QSL INFO All QSL cards should be sent to: N4JTQ Rick Sawaya Sr. W4W Field Day Event 2005 Spence Mountain Loop Sevierville , TN 37876 You must send a SASE # 10 envelope with your QSL card, if no SASE you will not receive a QSL card back !! Donations are welcome to the club.. Again anyone is welcome to come and join us, bring your own equipment to operate. Also if you wish to just stop by and say hello that would be great, we will have some items to give out during this event !!
