Former OK and AR area resident that moved to Houston area in 2004. Former OHP trooper and have worked in retail auto parts industry for 20 years. Retired OKARNG captain and volunteer firefighter. Chose the new call sign N5ISS because current job title is Installer Service Specialist with O'Reilly Auto Parts and because of Houston's connection to the space industry. My current rigs are ICOM 718 with anICOM heil mic, ,g5rv wire, mfj deluxe turner 3.For 10m and 12m i run a ranger 2970n2 and an IMAX 2000 on a 35 foot tower . For 2m i have an ICOMv8000 and a tram ground plane up at 25 feet. To power all of this i use a jetstream 75a power supply, 2 31-5t 1000 cca batteries(we have hurricanes you know).A 5800WATT generator to power essentuals in the qth. i spend most of my time on the 14.300 mmn. and the good-ole-boys-net at 7.279mhz mon--sat--4:30--6:00pm cst 73 to all

FM
For Field Day operating, FM is probably the easiest VHF mode to implement. You’ll have little trouble finding FM rigs to use; even a
hand-held transceiver can make a fine Field Day rig. FM doesn’t have the range of CW or SSB, but it is the most popular
communications mode on the VHF and UHF bands. You’ll find the greatest amount of FM simplex activity on the 2-meter band,
although 6 meter FM may be worth a try as well. Remember that Field Day rules prohibit the use of repeaters. This means you’ll
have to hunt for contacts on the recognized simplex frequencies.
