A "Chick Factor" is a YL—a female amateur radio operator of any age, with any license, from any country.

"Chick Factor" also applies to the mysterious phenomenon that enables every YL with a microphone to make pile-ups and break pile-ups . and not break a nail doing it!

If you worked W9YL ("The Mother Hen Station") on Mother's Day 2009 orValentine's Day 2009 and would like to obtain our special certificate and QSL card, send a 9" x 12" SASE to our address. If you would like a QSL card only, you may QSL direct (with SASE) or via bureau. SWLs are welcome to request Valentine's Day certificates and QSLs by following the same instructions.

CHICK FACTOR NIGHT—RECAP OF OUR FIRST NIGHT ON THE TOWN

Our first-ever Chick Factor Night on May 24, 2008 was a three-hour event in which only YLs were allowed to operate W9IMS (the Indianapolis Motor Speedway special event station). We amassed hundreds of QSOs while demonstrating the power of the Chick Factor!

MEMBERSHIP INFO

Chick Factor International is a club designed to encourage YLs of all ages to become more active in amateur radio. There are two classes of membership: Chick Factor, for ladies with licenses, and Chick Factorette, for ladies without licenses.

Each Chick Factor member receives a serial number that can be exchanged on the air and will score points for an array of operating awards (which we plan to unveil soon).

Chick Factorettes receive membership cards without serial numbers. They include wives, daughters, sisters, mothers, girlfriends, SWLs and any other female with an interest in amateur radio (or whose interest in amateur radio you want to encourage).

All membership cards and certificates are absolutely FREE with either a letter sized or 9" x 12" SASE! You can also sign up to receive our Chick Chat e-mail newsletters . and we're in the process of designing a series of awards to be given to those who work the required number of Chick Factors.
