*** WF9XJY ROS/CHIP64 - Updated Testing Schedule *** ROS Mode Testing: Nightly @ 2100z - 0000z *** Frequencies: (Primary) - 10.132 Mhz - (Alternate #1) 10.133 Mhz - (Alternate #2) 10.134 Mhz *** ROS Modes: 16, 8, 4 *** Transmitter: Yaesu FT-840 - Power level: 250mW - 25 Watts *** HF Antenna: 160-10m Dipole @30' AGL *** Activities Planned: >> Test incremental transmission power levels >> Test of CW function along with Station Indentfication/Announcment >> Exchange messages with other stations operating under SS STA authorization and stations outside of the US permitted to operate Spread Spectrum digital modes *** You're invited to participate with Signal Reports -- It's Simple & Easy -- Instructions on this page will enable you to participate -- Your contribution will help determine what power levels are necessary for sucessful decoding of Spread Spectrum Signals *** You will be joining Reporting Stations from around the World in this research *** Thank you for your participation *** This research effort is headed by Phil Williams KA1GMN - Contact Phil for license template and information ***

Purpose of Testing: The goal of this experiment is to determine if Spread Spectrum Modes can co-exist with other emission types authorized in the Amateur Radio Service.

Goals: To establish and maintain reliable Spread Specrtum communications with minimal transmitter power. Conduct objective comparisons of weak signal capabilities of ROS/CHIP64 Spread Spectrum modes against weak signal modes WSTJ, JT65A, Olivia, and MT63.

Interference: Experiments will be conducted on a non interfering basis, transmissions will exchange signal reports, call-signs and other pertinent data. Station Identification will be via Morse code (CWID) at the end of each transmission. The WF9XJY Special Temporary Authorization (STA) license requires on air usage to be on a secondary basis. This station must not interfere with any other station. If you suspect that I'm causing interference, please contact me immediately. I will stop transmitting. My email asccount wf9xjy@gmail.com is linked to my i-Phone for instant reporting.

Description of Operation: ROS is one of the Spread Spectrum modes that will be tested. The intent is to make short scheduled periodic transmissions and have Amateur Radio Stations around the World reply with automatic signal reporting. The reported data will be compared against date & time of transmissions, along with the transmitted power level, to determine the effectiveness of HF SS emissions under varying propagation conditions and channel co-existence. These reports will be valuable to our understanding of effective HF communications. All contacts will be logged and made available via HRDlog and this Web Page. Our research findings will be made available to the FCC and Amateur Radio community.

You Can Participate -It's simple & Easy !!

1- Download the ROS application for monitoring purposes http://rosmodem.wordpress.com/

2- From the ROS application configure " Email Panel " with your email information.

3- Set your receiver on USB and dial in the frequency and let it all happen automatically.

When WF9XJY transmits, your station will see my on-air email address. Your station will send an Automatic Signal Report via your ROS email function without your station transmitting. ** REMEMBER ** ROS & CHIP64 are Spread Spectrum digital modes. The current Part 97 rules prohibits spread spectrum below 222 MHz. If a digital mode is decribed by its creator as spread spectrum, then according to the FCC rules, it is prohibited below 222 MHz. All ROS Signal Reporting functions are automatic. I QSL - LoTW, EQSL , Direct.
